We have been blessed this summer with a series of sunny market days. Our growers have apparently been blessed with just the right amount of sunny and rainy days, because their produce has been outstanding!
While cucumbers, corn, scallions, green beans, summer squash, peppers, eggplant, carrots, potatoes, garlic and onions continue to thrive, by next Thursday you can expect to see beets, yellow and red cherry tomatoes, shallots and artichokes at Clark Farm; apples (oh no – is it Fall already?!) and watermelon at Wally’s Vegetables; and arugula, beets, and Purple Haze carrots at First Light Farm’s stall. And be sure not to miss Grant Farm’s grape leaves and purple peppers!
Our growers tell us that while tomatoes have been a bit slow, they should all be ready for you by next week.
And Mandy of Mandy’s Chowdah couldn’t be happier because now she can begin making her famous gazpacho!
Rowand’s Seafood is selling lots of lobster and lobster rolls, great for suppers on hot summer nights? And their striped bass has now arrived, which is great on the grill…
When Pigs Fly continues to offer an amazingly varied selection of wonderful breads, and Pain A’vignon Bakery is tempting shoppers with their decadent desserts and pastries. But after eating all of those healthy vegetables and fruits, you deserve it!
And you deserve to treat yourself to EVERYTHING the Salem Farmer’s Market has to offer, including wines, chocolates, gourmet mushrooms, homemade pasta and sauces; soups, salsas and guacamole, flavored butters, teas and handmade soaps.
(Thanks Barb, for putting this together!)
