U.S. Kids Eat Nearly As Much Salt As Adults, Putting Health At Risk

I have been on a low salt diet for a few years now, and do I ever taste it, when a restaurant relies on it in their dishes. Also makes one think about the payoff between convenience foods (processed) vs made at home.

” … children in the U.S. between the ages of 8 and 18 are eating, on average, 3,387 mg per day. That’s about the same amount as adults. But it’s a lot more than the 2,300 mg daily limit recommended by the federal dietary guidelines.”

” … it’s not so much an overuse of the salt shaker as it is consumption of processed foods.”
